Displaying Works of Art

Week 36
With my oldest son now in Preschool, we are showered with works of art that he brings home every week.  I have decided to take pictures of everything thing he does and will eventually make a book of all of his creations. This way I don't have to save hundreds of papers over the years, but will still have a memory,  and a copy, of what he has done.  In the mean time,  being the proud mom that I am, I wanted to create a better way of displaying his art besides taping it to the fridge.  I thought the playroom would be perfect.   So, here is what I came up with:
I bought 2 1"x4" X 4' pieces of wood, painted them black,  glued on large clips and made them hangable for the wall.  I then ordered the creativity quote in vinyl lettering for the top.  I'm pleased with how it turned out, as well as the cost, $20 for all. The gutter bookcases in the pictures were an earlier project done last year.

Since I was redoing one wall in the playroom,  I decided to do another wall by decorating it with recent family pictures that were taken in a super hero theme by the great Richie Chapman.  It was fun and unique,  and the pictures look great displayed in the playroom.

Diy Monster Truck Costume

My son loves monster trucks and he asked me if he could have a monster truck theme birthday party next month when he turns 3 years old. So, this week's project was for him to help get him excited about his big day.  It's definitely nothing to brag about, but he was very excited about it. I used a big diaper box, poster board,  finger paint, and ribbon. My son did the painting and most of the gluing.  I attached the ribbon to sit on his shoulders.

Next week, the plan is to build a mini monster truck track for his toys. I may be calling on my dad who does model railroading and has built a hill or two (or hundred) for his train layout.

Brother Footprints canvas

Week 34

As you know, I love including my almost 3 year old in my weekly projects.  He's a big helper and he loves being crafty. I was able to include both of my sons in this week's project. Using washable kids paint, we did footprints of all different colors on a 16x20 canvas. I then printed a brother quote on photo paper and put a black cardstock paper behind it. I found a big wood frame from Hobby Lobby that was on sale for $8, and painted it blue.  I then added their names with letter stickers and decopaged the whole canvas to seal and give it a glossy look. It's now hung in my halfway by their rooms.
