This week I wanted to use some of the same canvases that I bought at Hobby Lobby to create something fun and meaningful for my friends who are having a baby girl in June. I had recently bought a ton of scrapbooking supplies on an online garage sale for SUPER cheap that included ribbon, rub-on letters and designs, and a bunch of chipboard cuts (cardboard letters and shapes). I was just dying to use them and see what I could come up with. For this canvas, my friend's favorite band growing up was Oasis, so I googled lyrics to their songs and found one that I thought would be really sweet for a little girl's room. I used a variety of colors, sizes, and letters to make it. Laying it all out to be perfect in the space took the longest time. Once I was happy with how it looked, I just glued everything on. Here is how it turned out:
Searching for those lyrics got me in the mood to search other great lyrics for kid's rooms. I took the Yellow lyrics by Coldplay for this one. First I painted the canvas blue with acrylic paint, let dry, and then painted the stars on using a stencil and stencil brush. I then used some letter stickers I had for the words. I think for our next baby, I am going to make a bunch of these with all kinds of great lyrics from great singers/bands and hang them all around the room. We will see.
