My son starts preschool in just a couple of weeks and I'm trying to stay busy until his baby brother arrives, (in 8 days or less), so I've done a couple of first day of school projects to pass the time. We also went school shopping this week, and took him to his doctor for a check up. It's been an all about school kind of week. Exciting!!
I really like the neat chalkboard sign ideas that I have seen online that includes the child's likes, class info, and whatnot, but I have horrible handwriting, and I wanted to involve my son to get him excited about starting school. He really enjoyed making his sign. Hopefully we can continue this tradition over the years, until he gets "too old".
The second thing I worked on was just a simple, less than $10, gift for his teachers. Yes, I'm going to be THAT mom, so sue me! I found a bunch of cute ideas on Pinterest and went with an easy one of filling a reusable cup/straw with snacks and instant drink mixes. I made a quick tag for it, and wala!
Finally, I made a picture frame that he can hold when I take his first day of school picture. I bought an old wood frame from the thrift store, painted some wood letters, and stole a few crayons from Zayden's color bin. I glued the letters and crayons on with super glue, and I was done. Easy, quick, cheap, and hopefully, we will be able to use that frame for years to come. We took a practice picture today. :)
This is what he wants to wear on the first day of school. |
