Grow With Me Blocks

Week 1 Project 1

To start off the year, my first craft project that I made was  interchangeable hand painted "grow with me" wooden block sets.  These are perfect for props for pregnancy bump pictures and weekly, monthly, yearly and all the way through grade school pictures. I made them in 2 different sizes: 2" tall, or 4" tall.  I made them to be customizable to the client's needs and started the price at $20 a set. (depending on style and detail)

If you would like to order a set, please contact me to place your orders today! Great for gifts!

How I made these:

*I went to the hardware store and bought two 8 foot pieces of wood (2"x2" and 4"x4") total cost was about $12

*I then measured and marked the wood where I wanted to be cut- one half I did 2" marks, and the other half I did 6" marks, (4" and 8" for the bigger piece of wood), then had my husband use the table saw to cut the blocks on the marks.
*I then went through each block and sanded all of the sides so there were no slivers
* I then used acrylic paint for the base coat on the painted ones, and acrylic paint a stencil brush and stencils for the numbers and letters.  For the black one with the blue letters, I traced letters and numbers on colored scrapbook paper, glued them onto the blocks, then decoupaged everything to set and smooth out.
